About Alex

Welcome! I’m so glad you’re here. My name is Alex (she/her/hers); I’m a mom, social worker by day, and I am passionate about caring for the new parent during the precious postpartum period.

I found out firsthand what a challenge bringing home a new baby can be when I had my son in July 2019. While I planned and prepared as much as possible beforehand, the postpartum support I received from others was crucial as I discovered how to be this new baby’s mom. As I learned what kind of support was helpful (and what was not…), I became fascinated with providing unbiased and empathetic care for new parents. I completed my postpartum doula certification during the summer of 2020 and leapt right into the work.

Inviting someone into your space during the postpartum period can be a vulnerable experience; I bring with me warmth, cultural competency, and an openness to help you create the home you envision for your family.

What does a postpartum doula do?

Nothing can quite prepare you for the challenge of bringing a new baby home, but there are tips, tools, and loving support that can make the transition much smoother. As your postpartum doula, I am your connection to evidence-based information on all things newborn related, including support for feeding, infant care, and understanding the ever-frustrating newborn sleep.

In addition to caring for that beautiful new baby, as a parent you need a lot of love, too! Oftentimes the new parent is forgotten once the baby is born, but the first few postpartum weeks are a time of learning your new role, adding a new human to your family, and physical and emotional healing… all while being sleep deprived! Whether it’s support around the house as you heal from birth, strategies to communicate with your partner or family in a more productive way, or a listening ear to process a difficult labor experience, I’m here to support YOU.

I support all diverse families, including LGBTQIA families, adoptive parents, and single parents. As a social worker I come with a strengths-based and culturally competent approach, tailoring my support to best meet your family’s needs.
